Presenters include:
Meredith Comi- Restoration Program Director at NY/NJ Baykeeper
Living Shoreline Project Using Oyster Castles in Secure Waters in Raritan Bay Oyster castles were used to form a sill to both stabilize the eroding shoreline and provide hard structure for oyster restoration. Working in the secured waters at the Naval Weapons Station Earle, 0.9 acres (~130 linear feet) of oyster castles have been placed to help restore biodiversity, and increase shoreline accretion rates. A variety of scientific research is on-going.
Greg Biesiadecki- Principal at Langan Engineering and Environmental Services
Protecting One Island’s Upland Edge: Gray to Green -The shoreline on a small island in Long Island Sound required erosion protection. Solutions include a range from hard to nature-based "green gabions", to vegetated. The objectives and process of design, permitting, construction and performance monitoring will be discussed.
Registration link for March is LIVE on HRNERR website.
