Hammocks Beach State Park, Swansboro

Description

The CAMA Major Permit #42-00 authorized the removal of 93 feet of bulkhead west of the existing dock, removal of the entire wall east of the dock, the installation of a 285’ stone sill, with a 13’ wide base and a 2’ top width, and the backfilling grading and planting of the area landward of the sill, all as depicted in the attached workplan drawings (Area #1 & #2). The permit also authorized the filling of a maximum of 100 square feet of existing emergent wetlands.

Plan modifications were made for the addition of 20 feet (maximum) of stone sill to connect one end of the existing sill to the existing bulkhead in the vicinity of the boat ramp at the Hammock’s Beach Shoreline project site. Approximately 40 cubic yards of clean sandy fill was added directly landward of the sill to allow for planting of alterniflora.
