Jones Island Phase I, II

Description

The North Carolina Coastal Federation, in conjunction with Hammocks Beach State Park, has worked with Jones Island for education and restoration purposes since 2007.

Technical Details

The shoreline consists of over 15,000 bushels of oyster shells (414 tons), more than 100,000 marsh plants along the shoreline, over 1,200 feet of low-lying oyster sills and five patches of oyster shell habitat. Over 2,500 volunteers helped with the living shoreline construction process.
