Washington State Releases Booklet for Marine Landowners was created by theresa.mitchell@dfw.wa.gov
The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife recently released a publication titled, Your Marine Waterfront: A guide to protecting your property while promoting healthy shorelines."This new booklet provides waterfront property owners tools for understanding causes of shoreline erosion and options for addressing erosion. Providing options allows property owners to be an active part in keeping Puget Sound and the Salish Sea healthy and enjoyable for generations to come. This easy-to-follow, illustrated booklet serves as a foundation for conversations with design and permitting professionals, and even with neighbors, as you learn about options and how your choices influence the shoreline’s ability to support a variety of wildlife and fish species. This booklet is based on concepts presented in the Marine Shorelines Design Guidelines (March 2014)."You can find the new booklet (2016) online here: wdfw.wa.gov/publications/01791/And the MSDG (2014) here: wdfw.wa.gov/publications/01583/Additionally , we have also released a website, www.shorefriendly.org that provides information to marine landowners in an engaging, easy-to-use and modern format. We will be at the Salish Sea Ecosystem Conference (#SSEC16) next week and will have this poster displayed that highlights some of our new outreach tools.
