Steffee Project

Description

Shoreline stabilization/marsh restoration was implemented for erosion protection of the Steffee property along the Neuse River.

Technical Details

Looking at property from east to west, the project consisted of:

  • Construction of a new stone revetment along approximately 313 feet of eroded embankment
  • Construction of approximately 283 feet of stone sill and intermittent marsh toe revetment with grading and marsh planting behind the new stone sill
  • Repairs to an existing stone revetment for 20 feet to the west
  • Demolition and removal of existing wood bulkhead
  • Construction of approximately 443 feet of new stone sill
  • Turbidity curtain will be used to contain the work area
  • Areas disturbed by the construction equipment were seeded and mulched to re-establish vegetation cover
